Steampunk Star Wars: Sir Obi Wan Kenobi

Sir Obi Wan Kenobi

As a young man in the days of the Republic, Sir Obi Wan Kenobi was an agent for the Jedi League of Force Champions. He is intimately acquainted with the dark side of the force, as he spent nearly a decade undercover within the Sith Brotherhood, secretly trying to uncover the identity of the organization's Patriarch. His time on the dark side left permanent scars upon his soul and to this day he battles the temptation to indulge his darker emotions.

When his identity was compromised and he was forced to escape the Sith Brotherhood, Obi Wan returned to the Jedi League. Many years of service later, he was chosen to mentor a new agent to continue his undercover work: a young boy named Anakin, groomed by the League especially for this role. Obi Wan spent many years raising and training the boy, but when the time came for Anakin to infiltrate the Brotherhood he was overwhelmed and seduced by the power it offered him. He ultimately betrayed Obi Wan and the League, forcing Obi Wan to kill him. Whatever remained of Anakin after that battle became the creature known as Lord Vader.

Obi Wan has spent the last twenty years living as a hermit on Tatooine, hidden from the Empire, studying the secrets of the Force and keeping watch over a child he swore an oath to protect.

At first I thought "old man"
but studying the intensity of Obi's gaze.....Yes, young padouin, I see.
Great mood piece. Awesome.
I am reminded of a master portrait but I can't think of which one. Anyone?

This rocks! If you're taking requests I'd love to see a Steampunk R2-D2 or Gonk!

good job bro..... i know who has the talent in our family, and its not me. Super sweet, I've created a file for all of your drawings, gonna do something cool with them.

Don't know if you have the time or interest, but you really ought to pitch this as a graphic novel idea to Lucas.

This whole series is the coolest reinterpretation of Star Wars I've seen (even better than the Star Wars ASCIImation - and that's saying a lot!).

Very nicely done. not really what i expected... but i guess i dont really know what to expect without some nice setting art *hint hint*

Sir, I have bookmarked your page. Should you stop this series prematurely, I'm afraid I'll have to send my army of fire-breathing bees after you.

Sir, I have bookmarked your page. Should you stop this series prematurely, you will find a horde of napalm-breathing bees hot on your heels.

Wow, another fantastic entry. Like everyone else, I'm loving these, and like Tyson, I'd love to see it as a comic.

Can't wait to see more in the series. And thanks for making them desktops, too... I've got different ones on the desktop at home, laptop and work.

It's Charles Darwin.

I have to agree with Tyson. I would love to see you do whole story in this style. I'd love to see a close up of a lightsaber drawn in this fashion. These pictures are amazing, thanks for offering them for public consumption.

Just wanted to say I am thoroughly enjoying these. I'm looking very forward to more, esp. renditions of vehicles and locations, if you feel inclined...and of course the droids should be a hoot ^.^

I don't know about this one. Seems like it could be anyone from Victorian times, steampunk or otherwise. Don't get me wrong, the artwork is still very cool and overflowing with talent, but it just seems like there should be SOMETHING in the picture that connects it to either star wars or steampunk.

You guys are wrong. Didn't you read the description for this one? Luke is obviously coming up next.

Lady Yuki Shizuka said...

Yay for Luke! Can't wait! But will he wear the black from ROTJ or a more jedi-like colour I wonder?

Nice work. Loving the Steampunk StarWars. Would love to see your take on Fett.

I thought that Kenobi looked like a bald John Bell Hood

Would love to see the emperor and Luke. Or a young Obi Wan...

Because I love these so much, I wanted to add my constructive criticism for future works. The picture isn't bad but, as mark p said, I think there should be something in the picture to connect it to SW.

If this were a cartoon or a comic book with context, I'm sure this Obi would work fine. But as a stand-alone image, I wouldn't have guessed this was Obi Wan.

Immense work !!

Have you considered opening up a CafePress store with your art? I know I'd be interested in wearing some of these on a t-shirt.

Unknown said...

Any chance of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker? Oh yes, and the Millenium Falcon?

Obi Wan is a great mix of Darwin and Richard Burton! Keep it up!!
